Bristol Rovers manager Joey Barton has been charged with assault by beating after a woman suffered a head injury in Richmond.
The former Premier League footballer is due to appear at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court on Monday, July 26.
Met Police said the charge relates to an alleged incident at a residential property in Kew on June 2.
It has been confirmed that the London Ambulance Service were not called to the property.
Barton, 38, was arrested on June 2, bailed pending further inquiries and has now been charged.
He has played for a number of teams including Manchester City, Newcastle United and Burnley.
Barton will attend court on bail.
