Investigation after man dies on train tracks near Twickenham
A man has died on train tracks near Whitton amid a police chase.
At around 12:05am on Tuesday (April 20) officers attempted to stop a vehicle on Powder Mill Lane in Twickenham but the vehicle failed to stop.
A pursuit commenced and a short while later a man suddenly left the vehicle and ran onto a nearby railway line off Whitton Road in Hounslow.
Ambulances attended the scene where he was pronounced dead at 12:22am.
His next of kin has been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
The Independent Office for Police Conduct has been informed and has declared an independent investigation.
The Met's Directorate of Professional Standards has also been informed.
