Parents from a junior school in Twickenham are fundraising to give their children’s’ library a much-needed facelift.
Friends of St Mary's C of E Primary School need £1,500 to provide new books, shelves and seating space.
Plans to renovate the library were briefly put on pause during the latest lockdown but are now going full speed ahead towards the summer term.
Organisers of the fundraiser, Felicity Salcedo and Adam Irvin, said:
“Behind the scenes, a few of us parent library volunteers have been determined to develop the library, so it becomes a more enjoyable and inspirational space for our children to develop a love of reading.”
“We started to refresh the book selections, updating them and making them more relevant for today’s children but soon realised we had to renovate the library itself to provide the best platform to achieve our goal.”
“That goal has been to make better use of the limited space, introducing comfier seating so they can enjoy just sitting and reading, provide additional shelf space for more book capacity and create display boards to allow our children to motivate each other with their reading recommendations.”
