A school and university in South West London are working together to create more opportunities for students in the arts.
The University of Roehampton and Richmond upon Thames College (RuTC) announced their partnership yesterday (Feb 1).
They hope to encourage new routes into higher education in the performing arts, computing, digital media and communications.
Students at the College can benefit from the University's engagement programme for education and career development.
These include subject talks with University of Roehampton academics, workshops and personal statement support.
In the future, the partnership could be expanded to include shared use of facilities and staff training.
Professor Anna Gough-Yates, Deputy Vice-Chancellor at the University of Roehampton, said:
“This new partnership further cements our commitment to providing opportunities to people from all backgrounds. The partnership with Richmond upon Thames College will provide new opportunities for people to access further and higher education, and will support employers across south-west London, including in the arts and cultural sector”.
Marc Dodi, Head of the School of Creative Industries at Richmond upon Thames College, added:
“After a year like no other for the Arts, staff are ecstatic to be partnering with the University of Roehampton to ensure education and training for the Arts continues to grow during this turbulent period. We are looking forward to developing fresh, new and exciting opportunities with the University to enable future careers for our students in a vibrant industry sector”.
