Residents say plans to put a bus stop outside their homes is "fraught with danger" and will deprive them of privacy.
Plans to trial two proposed bus stops outside 219-223 Richmond Road and near Orleans School, Twickenham, have been met with anger from homeowners in the street.
Nina Taunton whose house is just four metres from the proposed stop said there are "compelling" reasons against the plan which was first mooted then withdrawn in 2004.
"A bus stop at this spot would create a blind spot for drivers coming out of Sandycoombe Road. The combination of frustrated drivers overtaking stopping buses, combined with a blind spot road junction and a crossing used by families for access to the park is a dire prospect," she said.
Mrs Taunton added that children at a nearby nursery would be at risk of "traffic accidents, of intimidation by youths and other unsavoury characters who linger at bus stops".
A Richmond Council spokesman said that the six-month trial will begin in January 2008: "We will be closely monitoring the progress of the trial and, towards its end, will be undertaking local consultation prior to a decision being made as to whether to make the scheme permanent."
