With work on Barnes Pond in full swing, Richmond mayor Cllr Eleanor Stanier and Mike Spillaine, chairman of Barnes Community Association arrived in wellies to inspect progress before receiving more donations to the £200,000 cost of the restoration. These included proceeds from an Easter Fete held by Barnes mothers and the proceeds from production of calendars and photos of Barnes by Rita Golden. These sums and a further donation of £10,000 from the council mean the Pond Appeal is just £7,000 off target.
