Neighbours still reeling from the shock of learning that a beloved resident of their quiet Isleworth road was murdered in her own home last week have spoken about their memories of her.
Iris Griffin died last week at her address in Aylett Road, Isleworth, where she had lived with her husband.
Iris used to look after Kerrie Burrell, now 17, who lives across the road.
She said: "They moved here 11 years ago and I have known them since then. Iris used to look after me for a few years when I was younger because my mum worked.
"She was lovely and never had a bad word to say about anybody. If you needed anything, if I was ever locked out and could not get in she would see me and come out and ask me over.
"I will miss the wonderful person that she was and the fact that she always looked after me. And she still did up until she died."
Another of Iris' neighbours, Donna Redwoods, who also lives across the road, said Iris had no children, but was very fond of cats.
She said: "She had three cats and they were like her children. My mum's cat used to go over to her house and she would feed them every day.
"She was always sending things to the RSPCA and all her cats were rescue cats.
"Iris was an absolutely lovely lady and she was very helpful. If I asked her for help she would help me with anything.
"She was also a very glamorous lady and years ago she came to my 21st with her hair up and she looked lovely. That's just the way she was - never a hair out place - and she always look so nice.
"I just can't believe she's gone."
John Griffin, 69, of Aylett Road, Isleworth, appeared at Feltham Magistrates' Court on August 30 charged with murder.
He was remanded in custody and will appear at the Central Criminal Court in December.
