The founder of a recruitment agency in Richmond is celebrating the 25th anniversary of the business.
Amanda Harris set-up Harris Jones in her own bedroom in 1993.
She said: “I was living in East Sheen at the time. It was all quite slow in those days because there was no internet in those days and we would advertise in your paper.”
Now the business is based in offices in Sheen Road, Richmond.
Some of her staff have been with her since these early days - Jacqui has been there 25 years, and four others for more than 15 years.
“It’s been really rewarding to work with the same people," she said, "It feels like a family more than a business.”
“What’s been so great about it is that it’s a business, but I’ve managed to combine it with having my own three children and taking time off, going to their sports days."
Amanda thinks the flexibility she offers staff with working hours has helped keep them at her side.
“We just try to give back as people give to me," she said.
Amanda has retrained as a counsellor, mental health being another passion, and is balancing Harris Jones with with her work in Relate and Springfield.
Harris Jones is having a 25th anniversary party at The Bingham in June.
