Young people throughout the borough were yesterday celebrating their A level results and schools were quick with their praise for their hard working students.
At Chiswick:Community school headteacher James Whiting said: "We had a 96 per cent pass; 69 per cent A-C; 52 per cent A-B; 25per cent A.
Our A to B pass rate has increased by 10 per cent. Seven students gained at least 3As."
John Hodge of Feltham Community College said: "We are pleased with our results and congratulate all students.
"Thank you to all the staff who worked with year 13 and their parents in order to ensure 86 per cent of our students passed their A level examinations in 2007."
"A special mention to Aefifa Razzaq who achieved English literature (B), geography (A) and history (A). Sofia Oumouassan also deserves a special mention having achieved English literature (B), geography (B) and history (A)."
Andy Prindiville deputy head of Gunnersbury School said: "We are delighted with the results achieved by our Year 13 students this year.
"The average point score achieved per student was particularly impressive: 368; this is, by quite some considerable distance, the best ever average point score in the school's history."
He added: "The following students individual grades were particularly impressive: Pano Kaimakemis (four grade A passes); Stephen Gilmour; Emmet Farregher, Gemma McDonnell; Viya Nsumbu; Ben Tipper; Nic Freddino; Eric Park (all three grade A passes); Eric Park (three grade A passes and one grade B pass)."
Heston Community College Headteacher, Phil Ward said:"Another pleasing set of results building on last year's excellent results. Outstanding results gained by Arsalan Wafi 4 As, with 100 per cent gained in many of the individual papers in biology, chemistry, physics and Mathematics.
He is off to St Catherine's College Cambridge to study medicine. Arti Sharma also got straight As in Economics, English literature and Psychology. Zahir Mughal got straight As in Maths, Biology and Chemistry.
Lampton school'sassistant headteacher, Ray Whyms said:"With an overall pass rate of 99.8 per cent and 47 per cent of grades at A or B it has been an excellent year for Lampton students.
"This is a testament to the hard work of both students and teachers and they are to be congratulated. Notable achievements include: Elias Malik three A grades; Phoebe Riley three As & one B, Homen Chow three A grades; William De Oliveira two As & one B; Richard Ewenzor three As and Deepa Parmar 3As.
From Heathland school Rachel Cave, deputy head, said: "An improved performance at AS and A2 both in overall pass rate and at top grades.
The percentage of A/B passes at A2 is 45.2 per cent (an increase of 2.6per cent). (Not including VCE results). 13 students gained straight A grades at A2 level.
