An award-winning gastropub in Sheen, owned by a Michelin-starred TV chef, is re-launching next month.
The Victoria, a ‘classic pub bar’ that has a conservatory dining room in addition seven hotel rooms, won Gastropub of the Year in 2012 for London areas, OpenTable Diner’s Choice award in 2016 and was named in the Good Hotel Guide this year.
It was also featured in The Michelin Guide and was awarded four-star status by the AA guide.
Now it returns to Richmond with a re-launch after extensive refurbishment this September with a new menu.
Behind the venture is Paul Merrett, who worked as an apprentice at The Ritz under chef Gary Rhodes before writing best-selling cookbooks and appearing on Saturday Kitchen and The Secret Chef.
In his culinary career, Merrett was twice awarded a Michelin star before he moved to the capital in a project with business partner Greg Bellamy and set up The Jolly Fine Pub Group that has now extended to branches in Wimbledon and Fulham.
The two took ownership of The Victoria nine years ago and seek to “celebrate modern British cookery, with a smattering of European and Asian inspirations”.
You can visit the gastropub today, but the re-launch with new rooms is next month.
Date is to be announced later.
