Hampton Junior School won bronze medals after representing Richmond at football in the London Games on Wednesday, March 9.
After winning the Richmond NPL football tournament, the school was given the opportunity to represent the borough at the London Games at Crystal Palace National Sports Centre.
Nine boys competed in the event, reaching the semi-final against Wandsworth, narrowly losing 1-0 after conceding early on then hitting the post in the dying moments of the match.
Team manager Dan Hatton said he is very proud of his players, who will compete in the semi-finals of a Richmond borough tournament.
He said: “It means so much to them to get this far and to get in the top three is just phenomenal.
“Some of them have been coming into school wearing their medals they are so proud.”
Team captain and centre-back Stan Curd, 11, said competing in the tournament was nerve-wracking but he was very pleased to get so far.
He said: “We were quite shocked to get so far, even though we knew we were a good team.
“We’re all really proud of ourselves.”
Wandsworth went on to beat Hammersmith and Fulham in the final.
