Emlyn Williams’ landmark psychological thriller has kept audiences on the edge of their seats since its first performance in 1935.
Eighty years on and the story of a seemingly charming young man who hides a much darker side has lost none of its impact.
Wheelchair-bound Mrs Bramson rules her remote Essex bungalow like a tyrant. A stranger arrives: the enigmatic Danny, who gradually insinuates himself into the household’s affections with style and skill.
But why does he keep whistling that haunting tune, and what is the mystery that he keeps hidden away in his secret hat-box? Why is a police officer calling? And what will happen when Danny and Mrs Bramson are alone together in the house at night?
