Following three excessively silly years in the West End, Monty Python’s Spamalot is galloping back on a UK tour.

Lovingly ripped off from film comedy Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Spamalot tells the tale of king Arthur and the knights of the round table and features a bevy of beautiful show girls, witch burnings, killer rabbits and French people.

Comedian Joe Pasquale will reprise his role of King Arthur for the third time, and says being a part of the show is a dream come true.

He says: "To have a job where you can go into work and laugh every single night is amazing. I was brought up on Monty Python, so it’s a dream come true for me."

Pasquale, crowned king of the jungle in 2004’s I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here, says he enjoys playing the straight man in the mad-cap show.

He says: "I am the only sensible one really out of all of them, and just watch on while everyone else mucks about around me.

"One part of the show that I love is the singing. I’m no Michael Ball, but the songs are great and it’s so much fun."

Starring alongside the squeaky-voiced scamp is Todd Carty, who played Mark Fowler in EastEnders for 13 years.

Pasquale says: "Todd Carty is great. I have known him for a long time, and we know each other socially.

"I grew up watching him in Grange Hill, Tucker's Luck and EastEnders, so it’s an absolute pleasure to be working alongside him. He doesn’t have a great deal of dialogue in the show, but he really makes his lines count."

Pasquale says the biggest challenge for him is sticking to the script amidst all the madness onstage.

He says: "You can’t play around with the script. It looks like it’s absolute mayhem, but the show is actually all so well put together.

"I just can’t wait to take it out on the road."
