Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe bared all in 2007’s revival of controversial play Equus, which first took audiences by storm in 1973 with its onstage nudity and unflinching exploration of violence and psycho-sexuality.
Peter Shaffer’s psychological thriller tells the story of disturbed youth Alan Strang, whose dangerous obsession with horses leads him to blind six of the animals with a metal spike.
Alan’s psychiatrist, Martin Dysart, is increasingly drawn into Alan's web of brutality, and eventually comes to question his own sanity and purpose.
The Teddington Theatre Club production, featuring Steve Shepherdson and Nigel Cole as Alan and Martin, uses horse masks provided by London Classic Theatre.
Director John Buckingham says: We have rethought the conventional look of the show, while, I hope, remaining essentially true to Shaffer’s vision."
