Former culture secretary Dame Tessa Jowell has backed Labour's candidate for Twickenham Nick Grant.
Dame Tessa, who hopes to be selected as Labour's Mayoral candidate for 2016, played a key role in bringing the Olympics to London in 2012.
She met Mr Grant at the Hampton on Thames Community Association centre before appearing on Radio 4's Any Questions? programme.
She said: "Nick is a superb local candidate - he has been very busy meeting people throughout the constituency and responding to their concerns.
"As the Labour candidate, Nick offers a real alternative to the failures of the Tories and Liberal Democrats locally.
"With his experience and dedication he is well placed to ensure the voices of Twickenham residents are heard in Parliament."
