Father Christmas thrilled children with a festive sing-along while daffodils were planted in east Twickenham last week.

The ruddy-faced chimney-slider turned up to belt out some Christmas classics in Cambridge Gardens before the Friends of the Gardens and volunteers planted the flowers over the weekend.

The group won thousands of free daffodils and other spring bulbs in the Metropolitan Public Gardens Association seasonal offer.

The group’s chairman Helen Baker said: "This is a great chance to make the gardens look really special.

"The daffs will be seen all the way from Richmond Bridge as well, so it will beautify the whole neighbourhood."
