Window cleaners have begun the mammoth task of spring cleaning the Palm House at Kew Gardens.
With more than 16,000 panes, it will take the team up to six weeks to clean the iconic glasshouse inside and out.
The Grade I listed building, engineered by iron-founder Richard Turner and built between 1844 and 1848, is home to Kew’s marine plants and tropical palms.
