Volunteers at Strawberry Hill House have received recognition for the hard work they put in behind the scenes of Horace Walpole’s gothic castle.
The 2013 London Volunteers in Museums Awards were held on October 28 aboard HMS Belfast in central London.
The gardening team were highly commended in the bringing innovation category for their work in restoring the 18th century planting.
Sandra Pullen, a volunteer since 2010, was also highly commended in the supporting, managing and encouraging others category, for her work in volunteer recruitment, training and retention.
Laura Teale, operations manager at Strawberry Hill, said: “We are thrilled that our hard-working volunteers have been recognised for the fantastic contribution they make to Strawberry Hill.
“Without them we could not look after the house and gardens and open them to the public.”
