The family of a boy who went missing 21 years ago have planted a tree dedicated to him.
Quentin Godwin went missing in 1992 and has never been found, so his family planted a tree on Palewell Common in East Sheen on Saturday, November 9, an initiative put forward by charity Missing People.
His mother Sarah Godwin said: “It’s important for me to know that people have not forgotten our loved ones and that families like ours can come to a place to remember them.
“Missing People helps to keep the search alive for families all over the UK, who are going through the toughest time of their lives.”
The tree planting, which was made possible thanks to players of People’s Postcode Lottery, was attended by Richmond’s mayor Councillor Meena Bond as well as Missing People’s chief executive Jo Youle.
She said: “Every five minutes another parent will face the pain of their child going missing.
“Our vital work in Surrey to find missing loved ones is only made possible thanks to players of the People’s Postcode Lottery.
“We could not have been a lifeline this year without you.”
