Aspiring artists and skilled sketchers are being encouraged to take part in the Big Draw this month, with events across the borough.
And where better to spend the day drawing than Sandycombe Lodge in St Margarets, a house designed by the world-famous artist JMW Turner?
Turner’s House Trust is opening their doors to artists of all ages to use the historic house and gardens as their studio on October 6.
There will be informal workshops being run by experienced tutors or people can choose to draw alone.
This year’s theme is Tales of Mr Turner, offering opportunities to make collages and drawings of all the people who might have lived in the house.
Another workshop run by Sandycombe Lodge’s artist in residence, Michael Coldman will show you how to make entertaining 3D cartoons.
There will be a pop-up café with homemade cakes in the kitchen where Turner’s father cooked their meals.
And if you cannot wait until the Sunday, Richmond Adult Community College will hold its own event on Saturday, October 5, at the Clifden Centre between 10am and 1pm.
The Big Draw; Turner's House, 40 Sandycombe Lodge, Sandycoombe Road, St Margarets, Twickenham; October 6, 11am to 5pm; admission adults £4, under-16s £2.
