A woman who tried to collect money using fake charity credentials has been handed a community order.
Shirley McCarthy pleaded guilty to fraud by false representation after she was caught trying to collect money for herself using false sponsorship and charity forms in Starbucks, in Kew Road, Richmond.
The 28-year-old, of East Street, Swindon, was sentenced to a community order of one year, which included a supervision order and 100 hours of unpaid work.
She was also ordered to pay £85 in costs and a victim surcharge of £60 by Lavender Hill Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, September 18.
