Police searching for a murderer on the run are appealing for help in Richmond.

Officers believe Derek Passmore, who was serving a life sentence after he killed a man in Hampton in October 1996, is staying in the Richmond or Hounslow area.

The 48-year-old, formerly of Robin Hood Lane, Kingston, left Ford Prison in Sussex on day release on Saturday, June 22, and has not been seen since.

Police said they are particularly keen to speak to people who live or work near the Duke of York pub in Powdermill Lane, Hounslow, where Passmore is reported to have been seen.

He is 6ft 1in, stocky, with brown hair and hazel eyes, and had a goatee beard when he was last seen.

A police spokesman said: “Passmore is not currently considered to be a direct threat to the public but if people see him they should dial 999 rather than approaching him.

“We are keen to speak to anyone who might have seen him or could know where he could be.”

Anyone with information should call 101 quoting 1532 of 22 June or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
