Horticultural students clobbered through Kew Gardens this month as part of the inaugural clog and apron race.
The first year diploma students whizzed down the Broad Walk in the traditional garb of a gardener – clogs and an apron.
This year saw one unlucky student slip over while wearing the unusual get up, while Iain Middlebrook dashed off to win the race and receive a trophy.
The 28-year-old said: “It was really good fun wearing the clogs, but they were a bit slippery.
“I’m really excited about the course – not many people get on to it so I’m really looking forward to it.”
The students who took part are all studying Kew’s three-year diploma in horticulture, which is self accredited by the Royal Botanic Gardens.
