Bike riders and film fans are being urged to pedal for their pictures at an outdoor cycle cinema.

The Action Bikes cycling cinema powered by up to six cyclists hooked up to generators is making a return to Whitton with a showing of 1980 film The Blues Brothers.

It tells the tale of Jake Blues, who is released from prison and goes with his brother Elwood to visit The Penguin - the last of the nuns who raised them in a boarding school.

They learn the archdiocese will stop supporting the school and will sell the place to the education authority and the only way to keep it open is if the $5,000 tax on the property is paid within 11 days.

The Blues Brothers want to help and decide to put their blues band back together and raise the money by staging a gig.

But as they set off on their mission from God they seem to make more enemies along the way.

The event is being held in aid of Bikes for Africa Re~Cycle, which sends donated bikes to Africa to be refurbished and distributed to people in rural areas.

Many have to walk long distances to access education, health care, employment or water so a humble bicycle can be a real lifesaver.

Action Bikes has so far donated 1,775 bikes and the charity has shipped more than 47,795 bikes.

Cinema goers can enjoy food and drink from the on-site bar and those who turn up in fancy dress will be given free popcorn to tuck into.

In the event of rain the cinema will move inside.
