The man who drowned in the River Crane in Twickenham has been formally identified as Adrian Joseph.
The 33-year-old from Park Close, Hounslow, was recovered from the water near Crane Park Island when police were called shortly after 11am on Monday.
His next of kin have been informed and the death is being treated as unexplained at this stage.
A postmortem examination at Kingston mortuary yesterday proved inconclusive.
Police now await the results from further toxicology tests.
Police confirmed earlier today that the cause of death was drowning.
Acting Detective Chief Inspector Clare Murray said: “We are trying to establish the last movements of Mr Joseph before he was found on Monday.
“Following previous enquiries we know he was seen on Friday at around 6pm in Cross Deep, Twickenham.
“It is thought he was wearing a hooded top and lycra training shorts.”
Police are appealing for anyone who had seen or who had direct contact with Mr Joseph between September 13 and September 16 to get in touch on 0208 721 5932.
