Police have confirmed a man whose body was found in the River Crane on Monday died by drowning.
The body was discovered near Crane Park Island in Twickenham when police were called shortly after 11am.
He was recovered by the Marine Policing Unit and pronounced dead at the scene.
Police believe they know the identity of the dead man but still await formal identification.
The death is being treated unexplained and a postmortem examination on Wednesday gave the cause of death as drowning.
Enquiries into the circumstances continue and are being carried out by police from Richmond.
