Constant bad behaviour from late night troublemakers has forced the closure of a popular bar this weekend.

The Revolution bar by Richmond Riverside will be shut this weekend, September 6 to 8, after continuing problems with antisocial behaviour.

The late night venue in Whittaker Avenue has been banned from selling alcohol this weekend and its operating hours will be reduced when it re-opens on Monday.

From Monday, the venue will shut at 11.30pm instead of 1am.

Police launched an expedited review of the premises following serious incidents in and around the premises on August 30 and 31.

The club’s alcohol licence was suspended for this weekend and new measures put in place.

The previous manager has left the venue and a new manager brought in.

Licensing officer Sergeant Mark Halton said: “I hope this shows that we will not tolerate badly run premises that cause problems to ourselves and the residential community in Richmond.

“We wish to see well-managed, safe venues that are of a benefit to the community.”

Acting Chief Inspector Rhiannon Ivens, from Richmond police, added: “Richmond police are committed to reducing crime and disorder and will not tolerate any establishments or locations that contribute to crime and antisocial behaviour.

“Our departments work together to capture and secure all evidence and will continue to do so in the future.”
