A festival that celebrates Teddington riverside and lock will return to its former glory this weekend, after five years away.
Teddington River Festival was last held in 2007 and for four consecutive years attracted about 15,000 visitors throughout the day.
The community event supports the Teddington RNLI Lifeboat Station and is making a comeback this weekend with a fun-filled day of activities planned on the Thames.
Centred on Teddington lock, events will take place both on and off the water on both sides of the river and will include nearby Manor Road Recreation Ground, the lock island and Ham towpath.
A highlight will be a special visit from the Queen’s Royal barge Gloriana, which will perform an oar salute before mooring alongside the Ham towpath for all to see.
The lifeboat station will host an open day with the chance to meet crews, board boats, try on lifesaving kit and watch river rescue demonstrations.
In past years, crowds have flooded the riverside to take part in duck races, try their hand at kayaking, skiffing or enjoy a boat ride and see live music, angling activities and arts and crafts.
Teddington River Festival and Teddington RNLI Lifeboat Station open day, at Teddington Lock, from midday to 6pm on Sunday, September 8.
