The business manager of a Twickenham school was presented an award by former West Indies player Michael Holding to mark his contribution to cricket.
John Matthews, who works at Orleans Park School, was presented a coaching certificate by the Jamaican, also known as Whispering Death, at the Kia Oval last month during the fifth Investec Ashes Test against Australia.
He was given the exclusive opportunity to attend the Test as part of the Sky Sports coach education programme, which recognises the achievements of cricket coaches.
He said: “It’s a great honour to be recognised and it’s fantastic to get to spend some time with the other coaches here today.”
Holding said: “This programme highlights the value of having good coaches at grass roots level.
“The coaches should be proud of what they have achieved; their dedication is a great advert for the programme.”
