Station Road in Hampton is shut to busses and lorries after a sewer collapse today.
The road is closed both ways to HGVs and busses to allow emergency works to take place between A3008 High Street and Ormond Avenue.
Cars can still use the road.
Bus routes 111 and 216 are being diverted.
A Thames Water spokesman said contractors would have more of an idea how long the road closure would be in place following further investigation tomorrow.
