A globetrotting Twickenham couple who tied the knot last month, celebrated their special day by putting on their own festival.

Guests trekked from across the world to witness the wedding of Geraint and Claire Davies, held in the Octagon room at Orleans House Gallery on August 16.

The couple invited 60 close friends and family to the ceremony and then celebrated with a festival-style hat party on Saturday, August 24, in the middle of the Northamptonshire countryside.

The festival, hosted by Mr Davies’ sister and her husband at their home, saw a live band and eight DJs play – including 33-year-old Mr Davies, who was spinning tunes for about four hours.

Mrs Davies, 32, said: “We have always wanted a big festival party wedding. We had everybody camping and we went to bed at about 10.30am.

“We had flyers for everyone and everyone had pink bands on their wrist.”

At the “hatromony” ceremony Mrs Davies was walked to a pontoon by a mini lake on the land, where they were married by the exchange of hats – a gentlemen’s top hat and an Indian headdress.

The couple met eight years ago in a pub in Southampton and have travelled the world together since, visiting places such as China, Morocco, New York and India.

Mrs Davies said: “My sister already knew him and when he walked into the pub I said to her ‘does he have a girlfriend’ and when she said no I thought ‘Brilliant, he’s mine’.”

The couple moved into their home by Twickenham Green three years ago and Mr Davies proposed at the top of the Eiffel Tower in 2012.

After their official ceremony at Orleans House Gallery, the couple had a reception in the Albert pub where they enjoyed a spread and watermelons with their names carved into them.

Mrs Davies thanked all the couple’s friends and family for making their wedding celebrations so special.
