A man with Alzheimer’s is taking part in a walk to raise money for an organisation that supports him.

Peter Wilkins has signed up for the Alzheimer’s Society memory walk with his wife Marilyn and sister Susan Wilkins.

The 63-year-old had Alzheimer’s diagnosed about three years ago after he displayed signs including confusion and short term memory loss.

The Twickenham couple turned to the Alzheimer’s Society for help and now want to give back to the group by raising at least £300 in the walk at Denbies Vineyard in Surrey on Sunday, September 22.

Mrs Wilkins said: “Alzheimer’s Society does such amazing work and we want to continue to raise money for this vital charity that supports the likes of Peter and myself and so many more.

“Without the early diagnosis Peter would not be getting the treatment he gets now. I believe early diagnosis is very important.”

The pair did the walk last year in Battersea Park but the cold, wet weather left Mr Wilkins battling the way to the finish line so they are hoping for a brighter day this year.
