A new family restaurant could be built at the Lensbury in Teddington.
The hotel, leisure club and conference centre, in Broom Road, hopes to create a new riverside pavilion in its 25-acre grounds to meet the needs of families.
The four-star hotel has applied to Richmond Council for planning permission to demolish the existing buildings to make way for the new restaurant, which will include soft play areas for children.
The Lensbury has one restaurant for all its guests, who often have to wait for up to 50 minutes for food service or tables, and is not entirely suitable for children who sometimes cause noise and stress to others.
In its application the Lensbury said the conflict between children who wanted to enjoy themselves and members who wanted to sit and have quiet, relaxing time was causing a decline in customers.
The new dedicated family and children area will provide a solution by allowing younger visitors to enjoy themselves without disturbing others, the club claimed.
