Walkers are being sought to help raise vital funds towards a Princess Alice Hospice service.
The Esher hospice needs 700 people to sign up for their annual Midnight Pyjama Walk on Saturday, September 7, but so far only 200 people have signed up.
The walk, which one of the key fundraising events for the hospice, will help raise funds to support its eight-to-eight service, in which nurses care for patients throughout the night to allow families and carers to have a good night’s sleep.
Without fundraisers, the hospice will be unable to continue to fund the service.
Emma Waggott, community and events manager at Princess Alice Hospice, said: “We’re grateful for the support of the 200 people who have already signed up to our Midnight Pyjama Walk but we really need to encourage more people to sign up.
“When we speak to families who have been supported by our eight-to-eight night nursing service we hear time and time again how important it is. This is why we are urging for everyone to get involved.”
The walk starts at St Mary’s University at 8pm and participants can choose either the eight or 12 mile route which passes through Kingston, Richmond and Teddington.
Along with walking through the streets in pyjamas, fundraisers can also enjoy face painting, magicians and a survivor’s breakfast upon crossing the finish line.
