Vulnerable people claiming benefits can get help and advice from a new partnership.
Richmond Council commissioned Richmond Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB), Richmond Aid, and Age UK Richmond, to provide further support following Government changes to the benefits system.
The council said the service, which launched on Thursday, August 1, will be a vital lifeline for people in need of advice on welfare benefit, debt management, and employment.
General advice will be provided by CAB which was awarded a three-year contract by the council worth £320,000 a year.
In a partnership contract worth £100,000 RichmondAid and Age UK Richmond will focus on welfare benefits advice for those most in need.
Richmond’s cabinet member for community and voluntary sector Councillor Susan Chappell said: “There is a massive demand for advice on social welfare since changes to the benefits system were introduced this year.
“It is vital that these services continue and the wealth of experience that these three organisations bring will ensure the borough’s most vulnerable residents are given the help and support they deserve.”
