No one was injured in a fire that broke out in an attic of a house in Hampton this afternoon.
People rushed from their houses as four fire engines worked to put out the fire, which took about an hour.
A London Fire Brigade spokesman said: “We are proceeding slowly and carefully and trying not to damage as much as possible.”
Firefighters are still at the scene and are working to ensure the house in Wembley Road is safe.
The homeowner was not in when the fire broke out and neighbours said he may be a builder or interior decorator.
Joanne Anthoo, who lives in the street, said: “I just saw the engines outside and came out to have a look.
“There was black smoke coming out and we saw a few flames.”
