A driver who allegedly crashed into a cyclist, sent them flying through the air and then drove off has appeared in court.

Mohamed Aydarus is alleged to have driven his Vauxhall Zafira quickly into a right hand lane then abruptly turned left, hitting the cyclist’s front wheel heavily.

The impact is said to have sent the cyclist into the air and then into a heap about 10ft into the middle of a junction outside Twickenham stadium entrance on December 22 last year.

The 36-year-old, of Ham Street, Richmond, is charged with driving a vehicle without due care and attention, failing to stop after road accident and failing to report the accident.

He pleaded not guilty to all three charges when he appeared at Richmond Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, August 6.

He is due to appear at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court for trial on November 15.
