A concert to commemorate Art Wood, who died from prostate cancer in 2006, will take place in Twickenham tonight.

The Eel Pie Club will celebrate the star’s birthday with an All-Stars gig, featuring top names from rhythm and blues, with proceeds being donated to the prostate cancer charity.

The brother of the Rolling Stones’ Ronnie Wood was a vocalist and artist and had his own band in the 60s, the Artwoods, who played on Eel Pie Island.

He also played with Alexis Korner and the Cyril Davies All-Stars, and later with the Art Wood All-Stars. He was an integral part of the Eel Pie Club in its early days and number of his family members performed at the club including Ronnie, Jesse and Leah.

This year’s event it will be a great night of rhythm and blues and nostalgia from the Eel Pie All-Stars.

It will be led by Don Craine of the Downliners Sect, plus Keith Grant, ex -Yardbirds man Alan Glen, Rick Biddulph and many more.
