Fresh from their epic triumph at the recent Hard Rock Rising competition, Twickenham band The Carnabys will play at The George pub this month.

Long supporters of the Twickenham Sunday Jam, which has been housed in The George pub for the last two years, the band could be playing one of their last pub gigs as they move onto bigger things.

The Twickenham Sunday Jam has been running in the area for decades now, formally held in The Fox, and is still going strong with performances ranging from novices to seasoned acts.

Vocalist Jack Mercer says: “We love playing in pubs because everyone is right up at the front and we get to play all of our favourite songs as well as some of our own."

The five-piece will open the evening with a set at the start, before letting other musicians take to the stage and then will close the night with another performance.

Mercer says: “We have been going to the Jam for about three or four years now. You always get a lot of different people turn up to play, you never know what it’s going to be like.”

The band will play on the same stage as Bruce Springsteen at the end of the month as part of their prize for winning the global battle of the bands contest earlier this year.

They will then embark on a world tour, record an album and have a music video produced through Hard Rock Records.

Mercer says: “I can’t wait. We talk about it every day, we are rehearsing every day and we are really looking forward to it.

“We are going to have a lot of people at the pub and we hope to pack it out.”
