BBC TV presenter Kate Silverton will launch a wildlife day at the WWT London Wetland Centre in Barnes later this month.
The 42-year-old will interview wildlife experts in front of an audience in the centre’s courtyard as part of BBC Learning’s Summer of Wildlife on Sunday, June 30.
Attendees can meet hedgehogs, amphibians and reptiles and learn more about them from the centre’s team, who are on offer to show and teach.
There will also be the opportunity to join experts on a bird watching walk, grab a net to see what wildlife is nestling in the freshwater and tour the centre’s gardens.
Younger wildlife fanatics can also get stuck in with pond dipping, wildlife trails and crafts.
The Bat Conservation Trust, the RSPB and Butterfly Conservation Trust are just a few of the 20 wildlife organisations participating in the festival of nature.
As well as all the outdoor activities, visitors can hear the tales of BBC wildlife filmmaker Paul Williams, who recently returned from filming in Borneo, and BBC cameraman and underwater filmmaker, Jack Perks, who will give wildlife photography tips.
Those who register can receive discounted entry tickets – adults can enter for £6.60 instead of £11.65 and children £3.30 down from £6.50.
