Children put their gardening hats on last week, planting a vegetable patch in Radnor Gardens.
Twenty pupils aged eight to 12 from Radnor House and St Catherine’s School, Twickenham, volunteered for the project, which is part of the Incredible Edibles themed Britain in Bloom campaign.
Having won London in Bloom 2012, Richmond is now representing London in the 2013 Britain in Bloom competition, which will be judged later this summer.
Councillor Virginia Morris, cabinet member for environment and planning at Richmond Council, said: “Following our fantastic success in London in Bloom last year, I am very proud that the borough will be representing London in this year’s national finals.
“I hope this will inspire the next generation of gardeners.”
