A convicted rapist told a court he would never stop appealing against all charges of rape and sexual assault he has faced.
Brian Witty, 42, of Twickenham Road, Teddington, is standing trial charged with three allegations of rape reported by three women, who came forward after they read reports of his conviction for three rapes and a sexual assault last year.
Kingston Crown Court heard the women, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, were each 19 at the time of the alleged attacks, which date back 24 years.
During cross examination, Witty told the court he knew of other rape allegations brought against him by women other than the seven included in the current trial and his trial last year.
He said: “I had just had enough of this experience. It’s just madness.
“I will never stop appealing. I haven’t raped any woman. What I am saying is there are people who have made false allegations you the crown haven’t proceeded with because they are false.”
Prosecuting, Edmund Gritt told the court the jury had been given a summary of the facts of Witty’s previous trial and conviction and accused Witty of being a controlling and dominating bully.
He said: “You left a trail of women, seven women, making accusations against you. Each of which you say is false.
“You left a trail of devastation behind you. Either on one hand you are a prolific rapist or these women, all of which don’t know one another, are making false accusations.”
Witty admitted he could come across as cocky and arrogant but denied ever being jealous, controlling or violent.
He told the court he did not know why the alleged victims would accuse him of rape and suggested the first alleged victim had orchestrated a conspiracy among witnesses to support her allegations.
Witty denies three counts of rape. The trial, which started on Monday, June 3, is expected to last three weeks.
