Firefighters were called to flats in Twickenham this evening after it is believed a resident pushed a smoking dryer on to the landing.
Emergency services rushed to Orleans Court in Seymour Gardens, just off Richmond Road, as smoke billowed from the third floor.
Landlord of the Old Anchor in Richmond Road, Barry Reilly, said a resident of Orleans Court who drank in the pub told him he thought the smoke was caused by a smoking dryer.
Mr Reilly said: “I could hear an almighty racket so went out to the flat roof. I noticed smoke billowing out and several firefighters in attendance.
Fire engines arrived at about 4.15pm and did not leave until about 5.30pm.
