Birdwatchers were thrilled to see a rare bird at the London Wetland Centre in Barnes last weekend.
The male red backed shrike, which is extinct in the UK, was spotted at the centre for two days over the bank holiday weekend.
The bird, also known as the butcher bird because it stores its prey by impaling them on thorns, remains a red list species and is now only usually spotted while on migration.
