A man was cut out of a car after another vehicle drove into the back of it near Barnes Common last night, May 29.
Fire crews from Richmond, Wandsworth and Battersea were called to Upper Richmond Road at the junction with Priory Lane at about 9pm and used specialist equipment to cut the man free from the Mazda.
They removed the tail gate and the back seats of the car and took about half an hour to rescue the man, who suffered from back and neck whip lash and was then taken to hospital.
There was a female in the car who was also injured.
The London Ambulance Service (LAS) attended, as well as police, who directed traffic around the crash site.
Ben Midgely, Green Watch manager at Richmond fire station, said: “We took the back of the car off and extracted him using our hydraulic cutting equipment.
“The road was closed one way but the police were there doing traffic control.”
