A father and son who allegedly tampered with an ATM machine to try to steal people’s bank cards appeared in court.
Babiharan Balamurali, 21, and Thangtavellutham Balamurali, 46, both of Hawkes Road, Mitcham, were alleged to have fitted a Lebanese loop device on a cash machine in Ham Parade, Richmond.
The court heard police started surveillance patrols at the shopping parade after a spate of thefts and caught the pair on January 19.
Both pleaded not guilty to attempted theft, theft, going equipped for theft and receiving stolen goods when they appeared at South West London Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, May 29.
The pair were bailed on the condition that they do not go within 100m of Barclays Bank, in Ham Parade, Richmond, and are due to appear at Kingston Crown Court on June 12.
