A community centre in Barnes has been transformed by a £30,000 makeover, to be completed this summer.
Following feedback from staff and users at the Castelnau Community Centre, Richmond Council worked on the building as part of its uplift programme.
The first half of the project saw the building’s exterior improved, grass lay down and seating installed, while the second phase aims to make a youth zone prior to a public consultation.
Councillor Virginia Morris, cabinet member for the environment, said: “We have focused on the outside first, looking at general tidying and maintenance, but also replacing the fencing, improving access and also replanting the frontage of building in winter.
“We hope that this landscaping and improvements work will not just improve the appearance for those who live in the nearby area, but also create a more comfortable environment for the staff and residents who regularly use the centre.”
