Buzzing jazzy artworks that dance across the page will be on display in Twickenham this month.
Jazz Art by Alban Low will be at The Bloomsbury at the end of May, where families can also enjoy a summer barbecue and jazz.
Twickenham Jazz Club hosts the free event, which will feature the Lesley and Kelvin Christiane Quintet – who both run the club - featuring Alex Hutton on piano, Richard Sadler on double bass and Noel Joyce on drums.
Mr Low says: “I get influenced by music a lot. I’m a great jazz fan, I go to the gig and I start sketching.”
Mr Low started drawing at jazz clubs in his spare time and got chatting to the people there.
He now visits the Twickenham Jazz Club for each performance and also worked at the Twickenham Folk Club.
He says: “Singers are harder to represent – I’m guided by the beat of the music, so like to draw from drums.”
He moved to the south of France in 1998 and strengthened his love of art over there, moving back to England in 2005 where his love of jazz took off.
Food will be barbecued by the Bloomsbury’s landlord, using local sourced meat and vegetables.
Jazz Art exhibition; The Bloomsbury, Staines Road, Twickenham, on May 25 from 1pm. Music from to 2pm to 5pm. For more information, visit twickenhamjazzclub.co.uk or artofjazz.blogspot.com.
