A St Margarets woman will take on the Pink Ribbonwalk challenge for a second time in support of Breast Cancer Care.
Theresa Broch, 51, of Moor Mead Road, enjoyed walking the 20-mile route last year so much that she has signed up to this year’s event in Marble Hill Park on June 15.
Mrs Broch, who is now a Pink Ribbonwalk committee member, said: “I did the 20-mile walk on my own as a personal challenge. I wanted to do it in five and a half hours which I achieved, so I’m really happy about it. I just plugged in my iPod and got going.”
The charity walker was inspired to take part in the events after she saw loved ones fight the disease.
She said: “I’ve known quite a few people affected by breast cancer and I’ve got a friend going through treatment at the moment.
“I also know someone who sadly died from breast cancer, so it just fitted perfectly that the Pink Ribbonwalk was to support Breast Cancer Care.”
Mrs Broch raised £850 for last year’s walk and has already reached £500 fundraising target for this year.
The first Pink Ribbonwalk in the borough launched in Twickenham’s Marble Hill Park last year and raised £205,327 but the total income across all five Pink Ribbonwalk events hit the £1m mark.
