A tree has fallen onto a brand new school building in Teddington this afternoon, May 9.
No one was hurt after the tree fell onto the new Stanley School building in Stanley Road at about 3.50pm Twickenham firefighters cordoned off the area and are still on the scene as they wait for council workers to come and remove the tree.
Max Ellis, of Cromwell Road, was alerted after his eldest son came home and said a tree had fallen.
He said: “One of my kids came in and said there were firemen all around the school so we all went down to have a look.
“The whole thing has just been rebuilt.”
The Met Office issued a moderate wind warning today as people experienced gusts of up to 42mph.
Mr Ellis said: “It is unbelievable, its hideous really.
“Just before pick up time so it is very lucky it didn’t fall into the street because it would have been really bad.”
Council officers from building control and a contractor dealing with trees are at the scene, but the tree has not yet been removed.
